I just returned from an amazing trip to South Africa and wanted to update you on all that we did with the children at Del Cramer Child Development Center!
I had the chance to meet so many of the children who are sponsored and the many who are awaiting someone to sponsor them. Praise the Lord that three children were sponsored by my fellow team members this past week!
While at the Del Cramer Child Development Center, I worked on a project to compile multiple lists of the children registered and part of our child sponsorship program into one cohesive list. This list will help with lots of admin work in South Africa and the US and keep the center compliant with government regulations. But most importantly to you, as a sponsor, we have an accurate list of the registered children attending the center who can participate in our child sponsorship program. This list lets us know which children are available to be sponsored and which children were previously sponsored but are no longer attending or registered at the center. Now that I know which children have graduated or left our program, I will reach out to anyone previously sponsoring one of these children to pair you with an unsponsored child.
Aside from this large (and very daunting) project, the team and I had many opportunities to serve meals, play games, and do various musical, art, and literary activities with the children! Ava, our youngest team member, taught an art class to some of the older children at the center. Nancy brought her guitar and did music sessions with the children. Blessman International has a relationship with NB Safaris, where they will have people come to hunt animals and donate the meat from those animals to feed our children at the Del Cramer Child Development Center. On Friday, NB Safaris delivered a freezer full of meat, and the children helped unload it.
We hear and share many stories from sponsors who had the opportunity to meet their child on a mission trip with Blessman International, but it hit home to me when I got to meet my sponsor child, Mahlatse. Mahlatse is seven years old, and due to the language barrier, she prefers and loves to draw pictures for me and respond to simple questions. Though we couldn’t easily communicate while I was there, I still enjoyed her showing me how she loves to skip rope and play with the other children!
Meeting her in person strengthened my love and passion for her and all the children at the Del Cramer Child Development Center because I saw my and your support’s impact on these children. Meeting your sponsor child in person is an experience like no other, and I ask you to consider coming on a mission trip with us to South Africa to see the impact of your support and the genuine smile on your child’s face.
Thank you for supporting the children at the Del Cramer Child Development Center and the work God is doing in South Africa.
